Wonder Woman star Chris Pine dings Avengers: Infinity War

In an interview during the Wonder Woman press junket, Pine was asked about director Patty Jenkins’ infusion of humanity to the blockbuster format. “Within this genre, it’s difficult to do something new,” he said in part, “and usually you just see a bunch of people killing one another in the outfits and blowing up cities, and, you know. Like, I know there’s a thing called Infinity War coming out, which I like, I don’t… Really? Like, Infinity War? We need more war for all time?”
Joe and Anthony Russo are busy directing Avengers: Infinity War for Marvel, which follows Captain America: Civil WarDoctor Strange, and Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2. Pine said Wonder Woman breaks the mold of the superhero genre in featuring “a woman who’s about love and compassion, and love trumps all. How great is that? That’s a pretty crazy awesome thing.”

Following harsh reviews for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide SquadWonder Woman currently has a 93 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which is higher than any film in the DC Extended Universe. The first few rounds of reviews made it the highest-rated superhero movie with 97 percent, but the rating went down a couple points in the last couple days.
“I think there’s room for everybody to exist out here, and the fact that it’s not working or doesn’t work or people want a specific thing — that’s what makes the movies the movies and what makes audiences, audiences,” Marvel actor Samuel L. Jackson said last October. “So, hopefully [DC will] make one of those movies one of these days and it’ll be as big as a Marvel movie.”
Kicking off Wonder Woman‘s opening weekend with $11 million from Thursday night pre-shows, it looks like they have.
